Hello, my name is Steven Mattera, I started programming at the age of 11 with the desire to make my own operating system. I started off by making mock-ups of DOS installers using Borland C on my 486 laptop. Shortly after that I got a Sega Dreamcast near the end of it’s lifespan and was interested in the homebrew development side of it. Though I was never successful in releasing anything for it. Then at the age of 15, I got my Playstation Portable (PSP) when it was released. After months of waiting the kExploit for the PSP was released which allowed for homebrew development on the 1.5 firmware. From there I made a few very simple apps in LUA and C. Then near the end of my journey on the PSP I released a homebrew application called FlashMod. FlashMod is an open-source firmware modification application. It allowed for customizations such as removing the waves from the background to setting a custom background.
Then at the age of 16 I started dual-enrolling at Daytona State College for my Associate of Science Degree in Computer Programming and Analysis. I found myself slipping away from my homebrew development for school work. After two years of being dual-enrolled at Daytona State College and Flagler Palm Coast High School I graduated with my high school diploma. Ready to get out there and make a name for myself my brother Anthony introduced me to Olivier Hennessy and well to wrap this up; I got a job programming iPhone apps for PosiMotion. Today to this date, I still work for PosiMotion single handedly doing most of their flagship apps.
